The Slider Buttons:
On a digital alarm clock you have mostly two buttons for setting the (alarm)time; one for time going forward one for backward. The Slider buttons are configured in the same way.
Two parameters are each handled by two pairs of switches (called Upper and Under in the figure). A third parameter can be changed by pushing two buttons simultaneously (called middle in the figure).
These buttons are especially handy for parameters that have to be stable for a while but are changed to another setting now and then. Like volume which is always used on the upper Slider Button.
Electronically the switches are mounted on small PCB strips
which themselves are connected to the main PCB board
using wires.
The small strips are connected to the large aluminum frame
using Velcro. A more robust construction will be part of the
new design.
